Coho/US Annual Campaign for Financial Support

Just about now, cohousing community mailboxes are receiving this annual reminder: Coho/US needs ongoing community support to continue providing services you can rely on. Your contributions made a big, big difference throughout 2008. Here are just a few of the things you made possible:

  • The “best ever” National Cohousing Conference was held in Boston, and we were able to hold individual conference fees at a reasonable level. We hope to exceed expectations again in 2009 in Seattle.
  • We’ve upgraded your association website, www.cohousing.org – far more useful directories, publications, classified ads, forums and so much more. Staying on top of this critical resource for serving our membership, attracting new members and keeping the public informed requires continuous investment.
  • We’ve tapped into the considerable knowledge of well-respected cohousing professionals at little or no cost to individual members in more ways than ever. We produced our first Webinar CD ROM, featuring Katie McCamant, on financing new projects, and we’ve regularly featured blogs by top cohousing experts such as Chuck Durrett, Jim Leach, and Diana Leafe Christian. We’ve also initiated a series of no-cost teleconference discussions on critical topics, such as the one scheduled for December 7.
  • Coho/US staff and board members have been presenters at numerous events, 17 of them held in local cohousing community common houses.
  • We were able to provide a $2,500 grant to help one community create and document a new “best practice.”

These are just a few of the nation-wide benefits and services we’ve been able to implement as a direct result of community support. Please talk with your group about the value added by Coho/US to the cohousing community, as we continue to strive to better support your efforts. Donate here.
