Kudos for the Conference

"People were extremely nice and friendly. I can see why everyone wants them as neighbors." That was one participant’s comment in the 2008 Conference feedback survey. The results, with more than a fourth of the attendees participating in the survey, are invaluable as planning for the 2009 Conference in Seattle continues.

Responses were overwhelmingly positive, with more than 98 percent indicating that they were satisfied overall (74% of them were very satisfied). Another 97 percent said that they would be likely to recommend that friends attend future national cohousing conferences. Presentations like the Cohousing Stories were particularly well received, while some others were not appreciated as much.

Although the kudos are great, the 2009 planners greatly value your ideas about ways to improve next year’s conference. We heard you. The planners will use the in-depth feedback on the program - about both the small and large groups – as they decide who gives presentations, and on what, next year. They will increase the food options, create more opportunities for networking, and carefully plan and implement some logistical changes, e.g., improved signage and badges. Not only are your ideas helpful, but your energy really touched us. Here are just three of the comments made in the survey:

“I am new to this idea and possibility, and it was great to meet so many people already living in cohousing, or seriously preparing for it. Also inspiring to hear how committed the model is to environmental consciousness and group-shared governance.”

“As a newcomer who knew no one, I found the group to be very friendly and welcoming. I especially liked meeting people from the cohousing communities located in or planned for my area.”

“All those coho gurus in one place at one time, and lots of access to them! Wonderful, exciting and inspiring.”

Thanks for your feedback.
