We wish to build intentional community amid the greater community in Jefferson County on 39 acres, 17 miles south of Pt. Townsend, 30 miles and a ferry northwest of Seattle on the Olympic Peninsula. The land has a variety of ecosystems, about half forest, some of which are wetlands; a quarter meadow on glacial moraine; and a quarter pasture on wetter bottom land. There are two creeks and two ponds. We expect land owned in common with some form of private ownership of home and homesite. We prefer environmentally sensitive, ecologically sustainable building materials and design. Current growth limitations may require multifamily housing with shared kitchen.

Our values include sustainable organic agriculture, conscious eating of a natural-foods diet, a recognition of how dietary choices involve/affect planetary economics and the environment. We prefer open communication with regular community meetings and other shared rituals, shared activities, shared reality.

The form and timing have changed. Owners are currently living in California, building surbuban community, accumulating capital, seeking partners, and waiting until retirement to return. There are caretakers on the land. We need partners with capital to own and build. We have considered building a retreat/resort center as an alternative community if a residential community does not manifest, or an active senior community.

NEW spring 2008!! Although we have not yet found folks who are in the position to work with us to build community on the land, we could not turn down the opportunity to buy an adjoining 4ac parcel of commercial land with a store. It is currently leased, but we want to transform it, as a worker owned cooperative, envisioning art studios and galleries,as well as great food and an improved country store, with art integrated with the beautiful natural environment, including making use of the large boulders left behind for us by glaciers in millenniums past, forests, wetlands, ponds and creeks. We would expect to offer gardening and landscaping supplies and services. We would also be involved with food production from our own gardens as well as from other local farmers, selling of high quality natural foods, as well as interesting beverages from around the world. Future expansion could include studios for health care professionals.

Status: Still seeking partners to buy in and build.
