We are forming a cohousing community near New Haven, Connecticut. We are negotiating for a large parcel about twenty minutes from downtown New Haven.
We are actively seeking new members. People who join us now will be in the best position to influence the overall design of the community and to select options for their own units. We welcome people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds. We welcome families with children and plan to include affordable and flexible housing units.
We will have enough space for those who are interested to grow a substantial amount of our food. The land use planning will incorporate permaculture design principles.
We meet at least twice a month for business and twice a month for a community dinner and some group process work. We practice consensus decision-making. We care deeply about the health of the planet and are committed to green building and living. Sustainability and cooperative, supportive community are our fundamental values.
At this time we have eight members representing six households, with several more associate member households in the process of becoming full members. Please email if you would like to join us or get more information about Green Haven Cohousing.
