New Brighton Cohousing is a new community located at 6010 - 6034 Soquel Drive in Aptos, CA. We were formed out of the umbrella organization Santa Cruz Cohousing. 7 households have moved in, three more are in process. We will have one additional home available for sale in 2008.

Currently we are a community of 13 adults, 5 children, four cats and a rabbit. About half the community works or has worked in social services of one sort or another, the other half in education, the sciences, medicine, retail, and planning. Our ages range from almost 3 to 63. We share a common interest in living more sustainably.

The property consists of 11 1000-sq ft, 2BR, 2BA, 2-story townhouse style apartments, in 3 separate buildings, along with 1 1600-sq ft 3BR, 2BA house, all situated around a central courtyard. We are in the process of converting the 3BR house to a common house.

Community amenities include one or two optional group meals per week, children's play area and garden space.

Cohousing communities are designed, owned, and managed by the residents; please note your membership requires participation in the meal preparation rotation and in community-wide work parties.

For more information, please send an email to info@sc-cohousing.org or phone (831) 475-1013.
