New approach toward blogging?

Hi All,

Since becoming Executive Director of Coho/US, I've made very few posts to the website under my name. I have been involved in lots of content changes and managing different processes behind the scenes. My intention is to start making Blog posts now and then to share more about what's going on...

My focus will be the cohousing movement and what Coho/US is up to (via the website and more broadly). Accordingly, here's some of what's going on and/or coming soon.

  1. Registration for the 2009 Cohousing Conference, in Seattle - see that big Conference logo in the upper right corner of this page? It appears on almost all pages on cohousing.org - just click it to learn more about what's going on with the conference. The conference team is great and is putting together the best National Conference yet.
  2. I'm working with some content sources to start delivering more frequent updates to cohousing.org. This is part of the new Cohousing Now initiative, which will make cohousing.org more lively - as well as new occasional news bulletins for those wanting to keep up-to-date on things Coho.
  3. Some Coho/US board members from the grass roots side of cohousing, a few cohousing professionals and I have begun conversations about how we might energize growth the movement. Stay tuned for more on this in the coming weeks.
  4. Neil, our National Tours Director, is planning the Cohousing Tours for 2009 - I'm really excited about some of what's coming.
  5. Barb, our Classified Ad Manager, has been kept fairly busy lately as more cohousers discover the new ways that Classified Ads on cohousing.org lets them get their message out.
  6. Catya, our Webmaster, has been working on revisions to how we handle news items - we want to make it easier for staff to add news items that appear on the cohousing.org home page and on other pages. Currently, that's all edited by hand. She will also soon release a major revision to the cohousing.org home page itself and support for our new Cohousing Now publication that offers more frequent updates on what's going on in the cohousing world.
  7. Meg, a board member with a background in finance, and Brian, our bookkeeper are revamping the way we manage our budget.
  8. And Lots More

If you find this type of info (or that in any of the Blogs) interesting, let us know - it really encourages bloggers to post more. Even when hundreds or thousands of people look at what we post, it sometimes feels kind of lonely posting info with no feedback.

 Thanks for your attention, Craig

Just wanted to pipe up and support your blogging efforts - I'm the seed of a new core group forming in Brooklyn, NY. We're four individuals in three households. We're just forming and starting to talk about how we'd like to do things. At this stage I'm assimilating information and letting it filter through my consciousness. So this blog (and posts on any and all topics) are very welcome. I'm going to add it to my RSS feed and keep up with all the latest.

Thanks,
Amna

Hi Amna

Thanks for the feedback - does your forming group have a name? A website? Everybody should feel free to use cohousing.org to help people connect with your group. Coho/US wants to help make more cohousing happen more easily. The website offers lots of ways for groups and individuals to connect - some are free, e.g., the Directory, and for some we ask you to help support our costs, e.g., Classified Ads.

I'm a newbie when it comes to RSS feeds. What exactly does "I'm going to add it to my RSS feed" mean? Is there something we can do to make adding to your feed easier?

Craig

Please consider a gift in support of Coho/US to help us all as we build a better society, one neighborhood at a time.
