Our Strategic Vision for the Next Five Years

At CohoUS, we believe the future of housing is rooted in community. That’s why we’ve developed the Blueprint for Belonging 2030 — a bold, five-year strategic plan to expand our reach, strengthen our ecosystem, and support more people in creating collaborative, connected ways of living.

Shaped by nearly a year of input from our board, stakeholders, and community members, this plan represents a major evolution in our work: we are broadening our mission to support not only cohousing, but a diverse range of community-rooted housing models — from co-buying and retrofit neighborhoods to intergenerational and affinity-based communities.

Strategic Priorities for 2025–2030

Our plan is built around five core priorities:

1. Ignite Awareness & Deepen Engagement
   Make cohousing and community-rooted living more visible, accessible, and compelling through outreach, events, and storytelling.
2. Break Barriers & Broaden Access
   Address affordability and systemic inequities while expanding the definition of cohousing to reflect how people are actually building community today.
3. Fuel Community Growth & Resilience
   Support both forming and established communities with coaching, tools, and shared learning to help them thrive.
4. Grow a Thriving, Connected Ecosystem
   Strengthen national and regional partnerships, engage professionals, and build a supportive network across sectors.
5. Strengthen Organizational Capacity
   Build the infrastructure, funding, and systems CohoUS needs to grow sustainably and serve our expanding community.
