Rooted Northwest
13410 228th Street Northeast
Arlington Heights, Washington
starting in the $800,000s

Rooted Northwest (“Rooted”) is planning an agrivillage to preserve farmland and support regenerative farming with two cohousing villages. Having purchased 240 acres of farmland and forest an hour north of Seattle in Arlington Heights, the group is now focused on growing our buyers group for Village One so we can start construction of the homes in 2026. You don’t need to be a farmer to purchase (most of us are not) but supporting small farmers is an important part of our mission. Homebuyers financially bring the village’s larger mission of saving farmland and supporting regenerative farmers to life.

Village One will include 40 homes that range in size from 2-bedroom townhomes to 4-bedroom single-family homes that are designed for energy efficiency, healthy indoor air quality, and long term sustainability. Our 4100 sf common house will provide a great place for gathering, including a large kitchen for both cooking community meals and putting up canned goods from our gardens and farm.
We have the property and have already received the Preliminary Plat approval from the County for the Master Plan, and submitted for grading and building permits so we’ll be shovel ready in Spring 2026. Katie McCamant of CoHousing Solutions is our development consultant and Bryan Bowen of Caddis Collaborative is our architect.

By clustering the homes, we are saving more than 85% of the land, over 200 acres, for farming, open space and forest. There are already over a dozen farming enterprises working on the land including vegetables, herbs, eggs, pork, and flowers, much of those now available in collaborative CSA . We love meeting out on the land, working and playing together while we await the construction of the first Village.

We are actively seeking homebuyers to get us under construction. The world may be in chaos, but you can make a big difference by using your housing dollars to show there is another way. Find out more by joining one of our information sessions at rootednw.org
