Thank you for your interest in living at Fat Peach Farm! The house is owned by Jennifer, who has lived here for 12 years. She and her dog, Uli are permanent residents. I am looking for 2-3 individuals interested in community living, with plenty of private time and space. Those interested in gardening and farming are especially encouraged to reach out, as the house is on an active farm.
The House:
The house is a three story colonial with 2 story barn built in the 1800’s located in the agricultural town of Madbury.
The main house has 3 private bedrooms (2 second floor and 1 first floor), each with a full private bathroom; shared ½ bath, living room, kitchen, dining room, mud room, book nook, laundry room, and office.
There is an attic and basement in the main house, both available for storage.
There are several outbuildings including a barn, geodesic dome greenhouse, small propagation house, sugar shack, and chicken coops.
The yard is partially fenced and has a south facing patio with a fire pit, table and chairs, which overlook the wildlife pond and lower garden.
This is a 200 year old house. It has quirks.
The house has new mini-splits upstairs for heat and AC exclusively, and downstairs for AC and supplemental heat. There is also radiant heat in the living room, dining room, kitchen, and upstairs bathrooms.
The windows have storm windows that need to be lowered when the heat or AC are running.
While the house is large and soundproofing has been installed to reduce noise, sound travels and housemates should be aware of maintaining a considerate and moderate volume.
Common Areas
Feel free to use and enjoy the property, and please be mindful when farm activities/events are taking place. Some of these will be open to residents (e.g., free fire gatherings), while others will be private (e.g., weddings).
Inside the house, all areas outside of the bedrooms are common spaces.
The Neighborhood
The farm is across the street from Green Acre Stables, a large horse farm and is generally a quiet location.
Located 8 miles from Portsmouth and 4 miles from both Dover and Durham, residents will need their own personal vehicle. Parking is available on site.
The Farm
Please visit fatpeachfarm.com for more information about the farm. During the farming season there are often events happening on site, from screening movies on the side of the barn to full moon fires to weddings and educational workshops. It can be a bustling space!
Please reach out for more information if you are interested in this co-housing opportunity.
