Village Hearth Cohousing, in progressive Durham, NC, is a 28-home LGBTQ+ (and friends and allies) cohousing community for those 55 years & older on 15 acres just 20 minutes from downtown and 35 minutes to RDU. We really have it all here: arts, education, medicine, technology, and nature. We are part of the Triangle hub of North Carolina and growing fast!
Village Hearth is surround by trees and has wide open Carolina-blue skies that sport majestic sunsets. Many members are fond of the outdoors and enjoy gardening, hikes, kayaking or just communing with nature. Other members may be found indoors working a jigsaw puzzle, playing music, cooking, attending book club or morning yoga. Our campus was masterfully designed with many opportunities to encounter our neighbors, yet introverts thrive while choosing when and with whom to engage.
Our community embraces a cooperative culture in which we make decisions together through the process of consent and it's expected that we all participate in the work of our self-managed community. With so much to participate in, you're bound to find your niche quickly.
