The Community

Wasatch Commons Co-housing is an intentional community committed to sustainability, conservation and connection. Built in 1998, not far from downtown Salt Lake City, “The Commons" are tucked away on a 4.5-acre oasis. It features an abundance of mature shade trees throughout, vegetable gardens, chickens, a playground and an adjacent urban farm/orchard owned by Wasatch Gardens. Parking is kept on the perimeter to maintain a quiet, peaceful village-like atmosphere within, where members can connect with one another on the central path.

The community has weekly potlucks, regular Saturday morning gatherings, children's activities, outdoor movies in the summer and various spontaneous events throughout the year. Members have access to a 3500 square foot common house which includes two guest bedrooms, industrial kitchen, laundry room, kids’ rumpus room, art space, and large living and dining rooms. A separate building includes a workshop, exercise room and a game/music room. Recently installed solar panels produce enough power for two electric cars, all common buildings and outdoor lighting.
