Coho/US Welcomes New Board Members Peter Lazar and Diana Sullivan

Coho/US welcomes two new members joining the Board of Directors.

Peter Lazar is active in the cohousing movement, giving talks on the subject and leading tours. He and his wife, Molly, are founders of Sheeflee Cohousing, which is working to build a 26 home cohousing neighborhood near Charlottesville, Virginia. For the past nine years, Peter, his wife, and their two daughters, aged 10 and 12, have lived in Shadowlake Village Cohousing in Blacksburg, Virginia.

On the work-front, Peter is an award-winning technology entrepreneur. His latest technology company, called eBroselow, prevents medication errors with mobile and web software used by over 200 hospitals and 5000 medical professionals. Peter has been involved in the Web since its inception, writing articles and developing new technologies. He received an MS in Computer Science from the University of Virginia in 1993.

Peter shares, “Following the recent real estate collapse, I believe many Americans now see the downside of costly large homes. I think the public is primed for cohousing as an alternative that is more life-enriching and less resource-intensive. I’m excited to join Coho/US in getting the word out about how cohousing provides a sense of purpose and cures loneliness and many social ills.”

Diana Sullivan joins Coho/US from Nashville, Tennessee. After attending the 2010 Cohousing Conference in Boulder, she returned to Nashville to organize a cohousing group that is today under construction; Germantown Commons/New American Villages we will be complete by early 2015. She has a home reserved in the community, and is also looking at other sites for others who are interested in another community in Nashville; additionally, Diana hopes to form other cohousing groups to develop communities in Tennessee. A commercial real estate broker, with experience in non-profit community leadership, Diana is a visionary with development skills. As to why she is serving on the Coho/US Board, Diana wants to bring her skills to a national effort supporting an expansion of the cohousing movement.
