Transportation in Madison

Madison has an airport (MSN), but it can be a lot more expensive and have longer flight times with connections.

Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) is the nearest really big airline hub. It’s about 21/2 hours from Madison by car, and has frequent connections via Van Galder Bus Service (3 hours and $56 round trip). You’ll be dropped off on the University of Wisconsin Campus, about ¾ of a mile from the hotel – and it’s an easy walk or cab/carshare ride to get there.

Milwaukee Mitchell Airport (MKE) is an hour and a half from downtown Madison, and has reasonable bus service as well via Badger Bus. (2 hours, $49 round trip) Again, you’ll be dropped on campus, but ask the driver if they can let you off at East Gorham and North Pinckney on the way into town.

Both airports are an easy drive if sharing a rental car makes sense for the folks in your group.
