Cedar Cohousing LLC is planning a multi-generational urban community that fosters a lively and participatory social atmosphere, environmental stewardship, and healthy living. Members of our emerging community are developing and planning the project, and eventually will manage our homeowners’ association through democratic principles of mutual decision-making and problem solving.
Our community will include 30-40 eco-friendly residences. Each household will have their own condo unit with a private kitchen as well as access to shared facilities. A large kitchen and dining area will be the focus of our common space where we can cook and share meals a few times a week. This “Common House” will also include some multipurpose rooms to meet the needs of community members – for entertainment, hobbies, and play.
Green space – whether rooftop, terrace, or ground level — will be determined by the specifications of the site. Gardening space is also on our radar, if not on site, then perhaps at a nearby community garden. Pets will be allowed according to terms set by the community. The property will be tobacco and smoke free.
We are seeking an urban location close to light rail or rapid bus transit in either Minneapolis or St Paul. Some parking will be available for personal vehicles, but use of mass transit, bicycling, and walking will be encouraged.
Meal plan and shared property in this listing are how we intend to operate when built.
