Description:
We are looking for collaborators to join us in building a multi-generational cohousing community. In this early phase, you have the opportunity to participate in the design and development process, shaping a living environment that reflects your priorities.
LOCATION: Chicago’s far northeast side (Edgewater, Uptown, Lincoln Square, Roger’s Park) or Evanston
PRINCIPLES – our founding principles include:
– Belonging: At the heart of our community is a commitment to creating a sense of belonging for everyone. Whether you’re sharing a meal, participating in community events, or needing support in a difficult time, this community will be here to lean on.
– Reciprocity: A diverse community offers countless opportunities for collaboration and mutual support. By coming together, we can naturally share childcare, pet care, skills, tools, and goods, benefiting from each other’s strengths and resources. This spirit of reciprocity enhances our collective well-being, making our community stronger and more resilient.
– Sustainability: Our commitment to sustainability will be reflected in the design of the property and our community norms.
DESIGN – In the design of this community, we aim to incorporate:
– Private residences, with options for single individuals as well as large families
– Green spaces where children (and adults) can roam
– Common house and kitchen for group gathering
– Shared guest units/room(s)
– Other common amenities, collaboratively determined during our design phase
