Description:

Coho Ecovillage is looking for kids! (And their parents who are willing to participate in our community life.) Coho offers a 34 unit community next door to a park with wilderness paths and sports fields. Clustered on 6.8 acres and surrounded by trees and meadows, the units are a mix of flats and townhouses, all designed to support friendly interactions between neighbors. A large common house with a unique solar art installation is the gathering place for meetings, 3 to 4 vegetarian meals a week, and recreational activities. Games! Some of us like to play games! Members of Coho Ecovillage, aka Cohoots, are committed to living lightly on the land, embracing diversity and sharing with one another in mutual trust, respect, and support. All learn to listen carefully, use nonviolent communication, and make decisions by consensus. Our commitment to learning nonviolent communication makes consensus and conflict mediation work so much better! We’ve been busy gardening, tending our orchard, working in our bicycle shop, and wood shop. We are an hour from the Oregon coast and an hour from the Cascades, great recreational opportunities! We have affiliates programs for our members who live off-campus: Friends of Coho, and Associate members (for a deeper commitment and benefits), so if we do not have a unit available for you, you can still participate in our community. We are a mix of income levels, abilities, and family composition. Twenty-six of our 34 townhouses and flats are handicap visitable, and all downstairs flats meet ADA-accessibility standards. Corvallis is an awesome place for kids: home of Oregon State University with it’s wealth of science and arts programs, it is also a bike friendly community. And, thanks largely to a former Cohoot, the buses are free! If you are interested in Coho, visit our website and come for a tour. We would love to hear from you.
