Description:

We envision three adjacent four-plexes with 1-2 BR each: affordable, small, passive solar, ADA compliant and multi-generational. There would be enough solar energy generated to power each home (zero net energy). The exact design and number of buildings at the property would be determined in part by the amount of space required for the solar arrays. Each building would be constructed as their owner(s) are ready to build. The places would be simple in design to reduce costs. Passive solar garages (ideally with shared vehicles) with solar arrays would house and power electric vehicles and store bikes, boats, trailers, skis and other essential fun stuff.

Part of the outdoor space would be common areas that could include gardens, orchard, firepit, outdoor grilling eating area, greenhouse, and playground. Permaculture with pollinator friendly plants and as little mowed lawn as possible would occupy the rest of the open space. An indoor common area (think part of a garage or separate passive solar pole barn) could include a workshop/ gathering/ music/ table tennis room with a wood fireplace, root cellar, a bathroom, and a small guest bunk room or two (children, friends, caregivers). This vision is subject to modification as better ideas become available.
