Description:

Join over 5100 community seekers and founders on the East Side of the San Francisco Bay Area (Berkeley/Oakland) and beyond.

We in EBCOHO meet regularly to learn together, to organize, to search, explore, and start new communities.

Join one of our regular info sessions to learn about cohousing, EcoVillages, #coliving, limited-equity housing coops, and other forms of cooperative community living. Meet others and find common ground to build community together.

By appointment, visit our Cohousing Clubhouse (near Ashby BART), browse our extensive library of cohousing-related books and videos. Join us for a tour (virtual or in-person) of the area’s many established communities. Participate in an (un)Common Meal to get a taste of living in community.

Get introductions and connections, and guidance on your path to community.

Open to all, with some events paid and/or limited to select audiences. Optional paid membership levels for serious seekers and founders.

While we “grew up” on MeetUp (and are still the world’s largest Intentional Communities group there), we’re now opening up to new ways to connect folks, with partnerships with Cohousing California and Cohousing Coaches.

We’re also looking beyond the classic cohousing model, seeing what’s possible with “retrofit” aka “organic” neighborhood organizing and bringing in examples and models and processes and tools from all over the world in how every community can get greener (socially, culturally, and financially, not just environmentally) and become more of an EcoVillage, beyond sustainability.

While we support community seekers and founders of all ages, we have specific groups interested in “Aging in Community” pursuing senior cohousing, and we work with established groups in the area. We also partner with groups in Oregon, Washington, BC and beyond, exploring international retirement community options.
