Description:

Elderberry is a hands-on community of active adults in rural North Carolina, 20 minutes north of Durham. The 18 townhomes (duplexes and quadraplexes) surround the Common House, which community members built in 2013. All the homes were designed to be energy efficient and accessible. Elderberry sits on a former tobacco farm of 10 acres, but shares more than 100 wooded acres and trails with our sister community Potluck Farm. We have renovated the old tobacco barn into a woodshop and the log cabin now serves as a site for “coffee on the porch”. The organic gardens are an important part of our community, as are the potluck meals we share 2 -3 times a week. We encourage prospective members to visit our website and learn about our values, activities and membership process, which is required of everyone who lives at Elderberry
