  • Denver, Colorado

  • Seeking in :
  • Specific City

Why I'm interested:

Resilient communities are a necessary component of a sustainable future. Housing in Denver, like every other city, is really expensive if you want to have good access to bike infrastructure and public transit, which is another necessary component for sustainable living. Dense, urban, car-free living is far more environmentally friendly than pretty much any other option. So much of the facilities we use are used only intermittently and take up a ton of space. I could easily fit in a small one-bedroom or studio apartment with my partner and my cat if we were in a community of trusted, like-minded people sharing most infrastructure.

Other information:

I have lots of experience in the trades, and with technology as a whole. I specialize in curating and maintaining repairable devices, open source hardware, and hosting alternatives to big-tech products. I also have a lot of car maintenance knowledge. Part of the reason I need more space now is because I need an at-home workshop to be able to repair or make things. I would love to help repair and maintain things for others in the community, would love to teach others, and would love to host web services for people to help get us all away from big tech.

Things I am looking for in a community:
- people with other skills to complement mine (I'm terrible at keeping plants alive, for instance)
- people who want to share with others outside our community
- people who aren't capitalists
- people who understand that trans people exist and deserve rights
- people who call out genocide and fascism when they see it
- people who want to learn from each other

Things I am looking for in community infrastructure are:
- private units with at least a kitchenette as an option
- a shared office (with permanent desks)
- space for at least a shared herb garden
- fiber internet (ideally multi-gig fiber and sharing internet with the neighborhood)
- shared storage
- shared laundry washer + dryer
- shared bike storage
- shared server/network closet
- air conditioning or the ability to put in a window air conditioner
- shared workshop for everything from bike maintenance to building electronics, to light woodworking (a makerspace is more suited for big jobs)
