Our society focuses on traditional nuclear family homes, but for us, this format no longer meets our needs. We live in neighborhoods, in communities, but still many people don’t know their neighbors and feel isolated and alone. _ We have a simple mission: to create an affordable, residential community with efficient private homes and generous common space structured to engage its members and create daily, casual interaction and shared experiences. Tucked between Claiborne and St. Claude along the Industrial Canal, this area within the Lower Ninth Ward is well-suited for a pocket community. The Lower Ninth Ward has a history of strong community roots. We are inspired by the legacy of neighborhood participation and want to resurrect the high-functioning neighborhood traditional to this area to serve the mental, emotional, and physical health of the community. We feel that isolation in a community can be detrimental to its people, and our aim is to rebuild the neighborhood fabric that offers activities, shared amenities, and friendly environment to elevate the benefits to all of our neighbors. We hope that our development leads to other development in the area. While the community still has limited access to groceries, schools, and health care we hope to be an impetus for additional, positive investment.
