Mike is a founding partner of Schemata Workshop with over two decades of experience in the profession and is a registered architect in Washington and Illinois. He is a graduate of Washington State University and holds a Certificate in Commercial Real Estate Development from the University of Washington. Mike has worked for internationally acclaimed firms in both Chicago and Seattle prior to founding Schemata Workshop in 2004, now a practice of twelve professional staff all committed to the firm’s mission of improving livability in our urban communities.
Mike’s personal and professional focus at the firm is on elevating the experience of living in and moving through the urban environment. Civic and personal well-being are intertwined, with thoughtful design helping to build social cohesion and community resilience. He is the co-chair of the Capitol Hill EcoDistrict, one of the nation’s first EcoDistricts to be certified under this strict protocol. Mike is a Cohousing resident and helped lead the design of Capitol Hill Urban Cohousing, incorporating sustainability into the densely urban development.
