Four households met in January 2018 and began to plan, design, and construct an urban, inter-generational co-housing community in Oak Park, Illinois. The core of committed members has now expanded to nine households with the goal of reaching 18 committed families, which will initiate the next phase of construction loan procurement and breaking ground. The group features members from different professional, social, and ethnic backgrounds, middle-aged and senior, with hopes of getting younger members soon. Our development and design committee, as well as our marketing and membership committee, currently meet weekly. We’re in the process of forming a legal committee to review contracts and create by-laws.
