Description:

Stone Curves is a cohousing community of 48 townhomes and condos located in sunny Tucson, Arizona (Tucson, with its progressive politics, boasts three cohousing communities). Stone Curves is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic/lingual community that welcomes people of all ages, faiths, political perspectives, socio-economic strata, genders and sexual orientations.

Our community’s homes range from one to four bedrooms, and from 680 to nearly 1700 square feet. Our location, active community, affordable homes and beautiful native landscaping make it a highly desirable place to call home. Our residences (situated in five villages of eight to ten homes each) are connected by a charming, circuitous tree-lined path where children scooter, and neighbors walk and talk. Community amenities include a large lawn for playing, a flock of chickens, a 23-bed community garden, a citrus grove, nine water-harvesting cisterns, a treehouse, swimming/lap pool and children’s playground. Our 3,850 square foot common house has sixteen rooms for all activities. The three guest bedrooms, teen room, exercise room, library, office, art studio, living room, laundry room, kitchen, dining room, and tot room surround an outdoor courtyard with a delightful view of the Santa Catalina Mountains. An outdoor gas grill and picnic tables allow additional space for shared dining. Behind the common house is our compost area, citrus grove (fed by a grey water system) and 400 square foot workshop.

For the physically active, we are a short drive to countless walking/hiking/bicycling trails and unending recreational opportunities — the Catalina Mountains and Mt. Lemmon (elev. 9159 ft.) where hikers can access 100+ miles of trails for day hikes or backpacking trips (plus three other nearby mountain ranges); beautiful Sabino Canyon; intimate Madera Canyon, and others. The Chuck Huckelberry Loop (two blocks north of Stone Curves) was named to the top spot in USA Today’s 2022 “Ten Best Readers’ Choice Travel Award Contest” for Best Recreational Trail for the second year in a row, and allows bicyclists, joggers and walkers access to over 130 miles of a non-motorized shared-use path. Within walking distance of Stone Curves are several grocery stores, shops, restaurants and the Tucson Mall. A nearby Sun Tran center allows access to Tucson’s efficient, affordable public transit system. The Tucson Streetcar connects the University Medical Center with downtown Tucson, a thriving district with restaurants, shops and entertainment, approximately four miles south of our community. A half mile to our East is Sonora Cohousing and four miles to our West is Milagro Cohousing. Phoenix is a two-hour drive to the north.

Tucson is home to the 40,000-student University of Arizona, which offers countless educational, scientific and cultural opportunities for people of all ages and interests. And, the UA-affiliated OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) offers hundreds of interesting classes for retirees; its office and classrooms are just a few blocks from the community.

To explore the possibility of joining the Stone Curves community, visit our website and email us to schedule an on-site tour or get-acquainted Zoom call, either of which can place you on our “interest list” of potential community members. Demand routinely exceeds supply, but homes sometimes unexpectedly become available, so getting on our interest list is the way most folks join our community.

We look forward to getting to know you!
