Description:

The Coastal Village is deeply invested in delivering a connected, rich community life.  Whether living independently, or with family, friends or pets, we believe that life is better, and more fun, together than apart.  Thoughtful architecture and clever community design will support our relationships.

Together, we will create a multigenerational, mixed-income, environmentally sensitive neighbourhood in downtown Sechelt, British Columbia.  We – owners, Rent-then-Homeowners (and possibly renters) – will live in 20+ private apartments, built for people – not for profit – and built to last.  We intend to have 30-50% of our homes for the Workforce – financially attainable homeownership for the middle income earning family.

Our socially conscious and patient approach guides our design decisions, clarifies our commitment to our members, lowers living costs over time and addresses Sechelt housing needs and priorities.

The Coastal Village will be designed, built and managed using the dynamic Sociocracy governance system – the glue of our resilient community.  Sociocracy uses consent decision-making, i.e. making decisions without coercion. It also builds on small groups of “human scale” and increasing the flow of information and connection – the elixir proven to support a strong group foundation and increase success with neighbourhood endeavours.   TCV is not a commune.

We invite you to join us on this journey home to Sechelt, B.C., famous for its relaxed seaside vibe.  Sechelt “has it all” with a vibrant arts presence, unparalleled recreation opportunities, entrepreneurial spirit and strong community values.  With easy access to tidal, fresh water and backcountry recreation, it is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts.

Our Community’s Culture
We consider, up-front, the time, context and participation required to build a connected neighbourhood community.  We seek solutions for new ways of living through innovative development and clever planning and design.

Our goal is to strengthen our wider local community by delivering more housing choices and livability.  More than ever, we need to build robust, affordable homes for the long term.

The Coastal Village intends to design a socially sustainable and environmentally sensitive neighbourhood – one that fosters supportive authentic relationships, cooperation, inclusiveness and fun!
