National Cohousing Month

Every May we celebrate National Cohousing Month, a time to spotlight the power of community-rooted housing and invite more people to experience cohousing firsthand.

Across the country, cohousing communities open their doors, host tours and events, and share what everyday life in community really looks like. From casual open houses to neighborhood potlucks, workshops, and panel discussions, the month is filled with opportunities to learn, connect, and get inspired.

A National Celebration Anchored in Seattle

This year, National Cohousing Month is centered around the Cohousing Summit: Seattle (May 16, 2026), along with three days of in-depth community tours across the region.

Open House Weekend and Events All Month

The first weekend in May is our National Cohousing Open House Weekend, when many communities host tours and welcome visitors. We also encourage events throughout the entire month so there are opportunities to participate no matter where you live or what stage of the journey you are in.

You can find events on our Community Calendar, a space where anyone can share cohousing and community-rooted housing events. This calendar will carry forward to our new website launching this spring.

Host an Event

Communities and organizers can use our Open House Host Kit to make planning simple and successful. Please list any open house events on our Community Calendar, so our extended network can find their way to you.
