The Cohousing Association of the United States (Coho/US) is a national, donor-based organization that depends on the enthusiastic support of our volunteers. We rely on cohousing champions across the United States who donate their time, expertise and creativity to promote the cohousing movement, support individuals and groups in creating communities, provide assistance to completed groups, and create networking opportunities for those involved or interested in cohousing.

Here are some ongoing positions and projects that need volunteer support:

  • Board of directors (leadership, strategy, fundraising)
  • Affordable Cohousing Task Force (writing, speaking opportunities)
  • Research projects Coho/US is engaged in conducting both anecdotal and random surveys to document the benefits of the cohousing experience. Contact us if you would like to help with this project.
  • Conference team for the 2012 national conference is seeking help with planning, marketing and staging our next national gathering.
  • Community partner liaisons keep us informed of what’s happening in your community and convey information from the Association to your group or community. This is an essential role which keeps Coho/US connected with our membership.
  • Tours Regional assistants are needed to arrange visits to communities, prepare materials, do advertising and promotion and assist on the tours. Opportunities exist for work trade and learning to become a tour leader.
  • Fundraising (planning, networking)
  • Regional groups (plan, promote and actualize regional multi-community activities)
  • A volunteer task not mentioned here (Do you have a skill or talent that you could apply to further the growth of cohousing in the United States?)

Ready to volunteer?

Even if you have just a few hours to donate, we are eager to hear from you. What are your special talents or interests? What time commitments can you make? Let's have a conversation. Contact us!
