Lovely, well-maintained one-bedroom apartment in a private home in one of the best cohousing communities on the east coast! Fully furnished, the rent, $1,200, includes high speed internet and all utilities (heat, A/C, electric, trash, etc). Approximately 800sf, it features an open space plan with living room, dining area, and recently renovated kitchen along with lots of closet space and good sized bathroom. Sunny, south-facing overlooking an orchard and private garden area you can enjoy. There’s an apartment upstairs where the owners live so if repairs are needed, we’re nearby. Both apartments share a mudroom and screened porch; each apartment has a separate entry. Appropriate for an individual or couple. Seeking 1-year lease or longer.
Our home is part of the 32-unit multi-generational Pioneer Valley Cohousing Community which started in 1994. We seek tenants who want to be involved in community life, who will follow community practices and agreements and honor the efforts of our neighbors who work to make our intentional community succeed. Two policies in particular are important: renters are not able to have pets and there’s no smoking allowed. There are many amenities available to participating renters – from a well-resourced wood shop and crafts room, community gardens, zip bikes and skis to borrow, and walking trails on our 27 acre property. Parking is clustered away from the homes to make a very friendly pedestrian environment. Groceries and supplies are transported by garden cart. Cars (and delivery trucks) can drive up to homes when needed to move furniture, receive deliveries, etc.
The Community is centered in the Pioneer Valley-- a progressive region with endless opportunities to enjoy nature, sustainable farming, and diverse cultural offerings. It's a 2-mile walk to UMass and downtown Amherst and close to several PVTA bus routes. A local grocery store, restaurants, and an Irish pub are less than a ½ mile walk. Puffers Pond next to us offers summer swimming and ice skating in winter; cross country skiing can be had on the town golf course next to us and access to Robert Frost and MM trails is minutes away. During this Covid crisis, the community has adopted many safety protocols while also promoting social connections (e.g. outdoor movie night, DIY BBQs, music making evenings, buddy pods meeting outdoors, etc). With the support of the local business association, local restaurants are providing outdoor socially distant dining options as well as curbside pickup.
Lease is one year with option for longer period. Have lots more photos available.
