General Information
Only one home remains in Hager Homestead, a 55+ cohousing community, just outside of Boston. We are wrapping up construction and move-ins are expected to begin this December 2023. We invite you to join us.
Our 26-home community is New England’s first cohousing for those over age 55, and one of only a few dozen in the US. Here’s what we have available:
• This one bedroom home, plus den, is 1,000 sq ft, has windows on two sides, 8-9'-foot ceilings, a balcony facing the community green, and one of the largest bedrooms in the development. Price is $622,000.
Our location, Littleton, Massachusetts, is a historic farming community a half-hour west of Boston. Our land includes acres of meadow and is across the street from some of the town’s 1500 acres of conservation land, where we’ll be able to walk the beautiful trails. We’re near a large lake with a public beach for swimming, kayaking and canoeing, next door to the new town library, and within walking distance of the town center with access to public transportation and a large mix of consumer services: a book store, groceries, a movie theater, restaurants, as well as a hotel. This area is still quite rural, so we’re close to a half dozen farm stands. You like history? We’re just up the road from historic Concord, MA. Finally, with Boston being so close, we have easy access to everything Boston has to offer: Fenway Park! The Museum of Fine Arts! And so much more! We are thrilled to soon be living in a community that offers a great mix of both rural and urban life.
For seven years we’ve been building Hager Homestead. We all believe life is richest when shared with others. But we also know that sometimes it’s nice to be alone, as long as you have a friend next door when you want to talk. We believe in cooperative decision making. And we do love eating meals together, playing games, biking, tinkering with cars, reading, wood working, singing, and crafting. And our pets!
