Burning Souls Wanted!
To Create First Senior Cohousing Community In Maryland
It’s About Time!

Imagine…..Living in your own right-sized, energy-efficient home where you have as much privacy as you want and community at your doorstep.

Imagine…..Living in a neighborhood where you have a sense of purpose and a meaningful role in the life of the community, where you can be independent and in control of your life.

Imagine…..Living in a neighborhood with people who share your values, cherish their privacy, and also like to connect, be active, and enjoy life together -- and who have the time for it.

Imagine…..Living in a neighborhood with shared green space, pedestrian paths, and a community house where you and your neighbors share meals, hold celebrations, play games, and just relax.

Our vision
A world where everyone has access to welcoming, thriving communities that exist in harmony with their natural and cultural environments and where anyone can age in place with the mutual support of friends and neighbors.

Sound good to you?
We hope so.

We are proud to have partnered with Katie McCamant, coauthor of the authoritative book on cohousing, Cohousing: A Contemporary Approach to Housing Ourselves, which introduced this housing model to North America. Katie co-founded McCamant & Durrett Architects / The CoHousing Company with Charles Durrett, in 1987, and partnered with developer, Jim Leach, on numerous projects. Katie leads CoHousing Solutions and is now focused on the development side of cohousing projects. She has worked on all aspects of developing cohousing from project kick-off to move-in.

Over the years we have searched for a site for our community. We are well aware that the site we finally select will determine what actually is constructed, based on its size, zoning, density allowances, and our budget etc.

Our ideal community
Would be a walkable community with a “small town” feel
It would offer easy access to amenities like shopping, restaurants, and a farmers’ market
There would be 25-35 households on a footprint of approximately 4 -10 acres
Homes will be arranged around a central green area
And there will be a Common House with extensive amenities
Each residence will be single-level

Greater Baltimore is a vast area with Baltimore City located at the inner harbor of the Patapsco River which leads to the Chesapeake Bay

However, we have focused our interest on in SW Baltimore County because it meets our ideal criteria of walkability and amenities. Located just 8 miles south of Baltimore, 8 miles from BWI and its nearby AMTRAK station, and 37 miles north of Washington DC it offers easy access to many cultural, historical and recreational activities. Nearby are many amenities including a weekly farmers market from spring to fall, many shops and cafes, summer music concerts, a fall arts and crafts festival and a food co-op. It is also home to two colleges: Community College of Baltimore County at Catonsville and University of Maryland Baltimore County.

The first step is to attend an Information meeting, to get to know us and learn about our project. Just reserve a spot at our next Information session at https://www.cohousingofgreaterbaltimore.org/events
