Welcome to Bull City Commons, an eclectic, diverse community made up of folks of all ages from all over the country. What we have in common is a desire to be part of Durham’s vibrant urban scene and to create a community based on mutual support, shared resources and making a smaller carbon footprint.
You are going to like it here … Durham (pop 267,000) is dense, neighborly, and it’s easy to get around– more like a town but with all the amenities of the larger metropolitan Triangle, including Chapel Hill and Raleigh.
Our condo building, now under construction at 610 Trent Dr, is in walking distance of groceries, cafes, coffee shops (Cocoa Cinnamon is on our block!), local ice cream, an independent bookstore, and Duke University; and we’re in quick, easy driving distance to stellar breweries, world class restaurants, museums, galleries, concert and theater venues.
Though close to bustling Ninth Street and downtown, our West Durham neighborhood is nestled in a spacious, green environment of towering oak trees, parks, walking/biking trails and close-by Duke Gardens. In a few minutes’ drive, you are in Duke Forest, two state Parks along the Eno River, or the 22-mile American Tobacco Trail. The Blue Ridge mountains and NC’s beautiful barrier-island beaches are both three-hour drives. No wonder Durham is among the 10 most desirable places to live in the country!
In addition to these distinctions, the Triangle has become known as “Ground Zero” for cohousing in the Southeastern US. Bull City Commons is the newest member of the eight communities in the area and the second urban cohousing condo in Durham.
Our five-story building, designed by award-winning Architect Ellen Weinstein, will include a parking deck, 23 condos and spacious indoor & outdoor commons areas: kitchen, dining/lounge area, shared laundry room, 2 activity/meeting/lounge areas, a screened porch, terrace and green spaces – think flowers, herbs, vegetables, trees, fire pit, gatherings. For a look at the building design and commons areas go to our website or acess the links in our classified ad under new communities on this website.
We have room for you! Check out our website or the classified ad noted above on this website to acess info about available units.
Interested in learning more? We’d love to hear from you and share more about cohousing, our membership process and why we are so excited about the community we are building. Consider joining one of our ZOOM info sessions and meet up with us at our virtual Coffee Hour (both listed in cohousing calendar events or the BCC website to RSVP)
Can’t make these events? We’d be happy to send you an information packet and arrange an individual phone or zoom Info Session.
