Welcome to Bull City Commons, an eclectic, diverse community made up of folks of all ages from all over the country. What we have in common is a desire to be part of Durham’s vibrant urban scene and to create a community based on mutual support, shared resources and making a smaller carbon footprint.
You are going to like it here … Durham (pop 269,000) is dense, neighborly, and it’s easy to get around— more like a town but with all the amenities of the larger metropolitan Triangle, including Chapel Hill and Raleigh.
Our nearly completed condo building at 610 Trent Drive is in walking distance of groceries, cafes, coffee shops (Cocoa Cinnamon is on our block!), local ice cream, an independent bookstore, and Duke University; and we’re in quick, easy driving distance to stellar breweries, world class restaurants, museums, galleries, and concert and theater venues.
Though close to bustling Ninth Street and downtown, our West Durham neighborhood is nestled in a spacious, green environment of towering oak trees, parks, walking/biking trails and close-by Duke Gardens. In a few minutes’ drive, you are in Duke Forest, 2 state parks along the Eno River, the 22-mile American Tobacco Trail, and the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. The Blue Ridge mountains and NC’s beautiful barrier-island beaches are both 3-hour drives. No wonder Durham is among the 10 most desirable places to live in the country!
In addition to these distinctions, the Triangle has become known as “Ground Zero” for cohousing in the Southeastern U.S. Bull City Commons is the newest member of the 8 communities in the area and the second urban cohousing condo in Durham.
Our 5-story building, designed by award-winning architect Ellen Weinstein, includes a parking deck, 23 condo units, and spacious indoor and outdoor commons areas: kitchen, dining area, shared laundry room, 2 multipurpose areas, a screened porch, terrace, and green spaces—think flowers, herbs, vegetables, trees, fire pit, gatherings.
