Description:
Spring Glen community started our planning in 1979 and the first residents moved in in 1983. We are a small community located within easy walking distance of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and close to the downtown area of Chapel Hill. We would be considered an urban community based on our density, but you would never know it because of our large mature trees and other vegetation. Our by-laws call for majority votes, but in the nearly 40 years we have been in existence all of our decisions have been consensus. We have had a weekly pot-luck since 1979 (until covid demanded isolation) and have never missed a week! We do not have a common house but we do have a community room with a small kitchen. We hold our meetings in the community room, or on one of our several outdoor terraces and patios.
We are demographically and age diverse. Our youngest is 4 and our oldest member is 94.
