Description:

We are looking for other relatively like-minded individuals and/or families to join us in our endeavor of acquiring land and transforming it into an intentional community/co-housing/village which is off-grid or at the very least has the capability of being off-grid at any point.
You may be a good fit if you resonate with the following to any reasonable degree:
We are seeking a different way of life. A life which is as much outside of the “system” as possible, or at least not completely dependent on it (it may not be possible, currently, to be completely outside of the system, however we can still build something different within our small corner of it, as best as we can). This way of life we seek is not a new or experimental concept – it is the way which most people have lived through most of recorded history, and is the environment in which people thrive. That is living in community, and relying on those in that community and other nearby communities for our food, water, and daily survival.
If you are not content spending the rest of your life working some 9-5 job to pay rent, and having little time and energy left over to spend with friends and loved ones, hobbies, and other pursuits, then this may be the place for you.
If you are tired of being too busy with “life” to really live life.
If you are tired of this lonely, hyper-individualistic society, and yearn to live daily side-by-side with others in a community of all ages, where deeper and more meaningful relationships can be fostered, through time and shared experiences.
If you realize the value of a “village” to raise kids.
If you do not like being so dependent on the industrialized food systems, due to the ethics, safety, and overall fragility of the system. More importantly, you wish to establish more freedom and independence by being less reliant on these systems.
If you have connected the dots and see the current trajectory of society, and wish to establish a safeguard by providing an alternate lifestyle for yourself and your kids and the future generation.

With these things touched on, if it hasn’t been emphasized enough already – the main thing we seek is simply community. To live life closely with one another, as I believe we are deigned by God to do.

If you have resonated with these things so far, then please consider reaching out if you think you may be a good fit, and let’s discuss things further. All questions, comments are welcome.

Here is a brief overview of the plan as it currently stands:
1 – Gather a core group of 5-10 people who share a similar vision and are committed to dedicating time, energy and money to moving forward with making that vision a reality.
2 – Acquire land of sufficient size to eventually support a community of 30-100 people
This includes:
– a reliable and sufficient water source
– land suitable for growing and livestock
– preferably other available resources for constructing and maintaining homes
– land with no zoning restrictions which would hinder our goals
– Land with hunting opportunities, or bordering public huntable land is a major plus.
3 – Begin building simple structures on the land or placing mobile trailers, tiny homes, etc. Then living part-time on the land as we develop it further. Meanwhile, renting the land out to campers, hunters, boondockers, etc. to help finance the land and projects.
4 – Begin recruiting more members to the community (though this will likely be on-going through the entire venture)
4 – Begin the transition to living full-time or near-full time on the land, and establishing more permanent structures, guest rooms/houses, increasing food-production capabilities, etc.
5 – By the time the community reaches about 30 people, the goal would be to have a community center established, with things like communal kitchen/dining, communal laundry, as well as some basic roles, expectations, and routines established to facilitate things running as smoothly and happily as possible.
