Instructor: Crystal Byrd Farmer

In the complex context of intentional communities, harm can happen even with our best intentions. To foster more inclusive communities, we must focus on cultivating a culture of accountability by addressing harm openly. In this workshop, we will explore the multifaceted nature of harm, including the nuances of intent versus impact, evaluating the severity of harm, and recognizing how past experiences shape one’s present experience of harm. We will also cover Crystal’s unique accountability process grounded in restorative/transformative justice principles which prioritizes repair over punitive practices. You’ll leave this workshop with an appreciation for how accountability serves as a cornerstone for growth, understanding, and sustained support in community.
