Shift Esperanza (www.shiftesperanza.com) is a cohousing-inspired eco-village/ permaculture farm being created in Nosara, a beach town on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Our developer, Matthew Blesso of Blesso Properties, has successfully created award-winning projects in New York City and in Panama. Shift owns the 100 acres of dry tropical forest with abundant native trees and edible plants, including an innovative permaculture farm on 8 acres in its third year of active production. The community has received the necessary water, infrastructure, and building permits to allow for 140 homes on-site in up to nine neighborhoods. Construction on the first neighborhood of 40 residents is planned to start in 2024.

We currently have over 50 founding members/investors, and are open to new community members!!! The first lots are just beginning to be sold in January 2024.

We’re hosting La Siembra (https://shiftesperanza.com/la-siembra), a week-long introduction to Shift for potential community members from Feb. 10-17 in Nosara. The week of experiences will give interested folks an opportunity to walk the land, connect with future residents, meet our professional development team, dance, do yoga, eat local food, and, of course, enjoy relaxing beach time in the warm ocean waves at one of the world’s best surfing spots.
